Hello and Welcome to SkateRider
Skaterider is an online resource for skateboarders who want to get ahead. We put together SkateRider so skaters could find a way to earn a living, and keep skating every day!
Its sad but in today’s society we still have to face the fact that not everyone likes skateboarders. The old cliche of the 1960s that “Skateboarding is a crime” still exists at every turn. Law officials still haggle skaters for just about anything, including not wearing a “freaking” helmet.
And despite the intense training that goes into skateboarding just like any other activity, skaters really have no outlet to improve their livelihood besides going pro or winning the X-games.
So we put together SkateRider as a resource for skaters to connect together and help each other out.
In addition we’ve set out an agenda to help the world understand that skateboarding is not a crime, and skaters are not criminals.
In fact they’re mostly hard working, dedicated athletes who kick ass at what they do.
And to that fact we’d like to get off on the right foot (not a goofy one) and show people we mean business.
So we put together a campaign to help feed the hungry with skaters volunteering to do the work of gathering up the food and asking for donations.
Will Krook for Food is the project name, and it requires skateboarders to put their best foot forward and get involved.
Here’s how it works:
You sign up to volunteer in your local town. Others in your area who registered as connected with you and you pick 20 of the top food companies in the area you think would be good candidates for donations. You visit them with our flyer (and your board) and ask for the donation. Upon the donating of any non-perishable food items, you perform some tricks.
For all volunteers who raise at least one can of food, you get your name listed ont he SkateRider.org website under the project, and get to put it on your resume for future work, college acceptance or other reason.
