Sk8College is dedicated to helping skateboarders get an education and remind them how important it is to keep learning as they pursue their skate dreams. Our site was designed to bring awareness to colleges and universities about the need to bring skateboarding to their campus and realize the importance of expanding their athletics programs to accommodate new and evolving sports programs.
We strive to help colleges and universities:
- Offer scholarship programs to exceptional students who skateboard
- Start collegiate skateboarding teams
- Start collegiate skateboarding clubs
- Recognize and promote outside skateboarding organizations
Most importantly kids get to choose schools that meet their athletic interests.
Skateboarders who visit our site get the chance to go to college and continue their passion of skateboarding in a school-like atmosphere.
Skateboarders get a chance to recognize they can continue in their education path and pursue skateboarding just like football, basketball, baseball, hockey, tennis, golf and other sports players. Many universities have embraced this approach to sports and started organized surf team which compete against other colleges.
SK8College editorial staff is always seeking new journalists interested in skateboarding and highlighting it’s benefits UT OUR EDITOR
Our Editor, author Ollie Rages, reports on skate contests and advocating on it’s benefits to youth and society.
SK8College chief editor, aka “Ollie Rages” is an accomplished athlete and holds a B.S. in General Business from Arizona State University. He started his career in sports as a wrestler and was a member of the 1988 NCAA Division I Championship Team while at ASU under head coach and Olympian Bobby Douglas.
He also was a member of the 1986 NCAA Division III Championship Team while attending Montclair State College under head coach Steve Strellner.
Ollie built his dreams into a reality during his 15 year commitment to wrestling and experienced many ups and downs during his tenure in the sport. After completing his career, he turned his attention to building a family with his lovely wife, which includes two fun loving, carefree boys who enjoy skateboarding. His older son competes in contests for fun and competitiveness and his younger son skates for fun, and also enjoys basketball and wrestling.
He has watched his sons, and the community of skateboarders where we live use skateboarding to build and mold themselves into well-built kids who have committed to skating, enduring it’s pitfalls, persevered to overcome adversity and build on what what’s been presented to them making “lemonade out of lemons” sometimes.
College Skateboarding Pros – We planned on writing about skaters who have college degrees in a future post. For the time being this post seems to recognize skateboarders who have studied hard in college to get a college degree. Red Bull recognized this fact and has put together a small list of some who have excelled at both. For the time being enjoy their article.
